Gina Mayer
received her BFA in Theatre from the University of Minnesota, Duluth.
As a dancer she has performed with the Minnesota Ballet, the Royal Swedish
Opera Company and as a soloist with the North Star Opera Company. She has
been the choreographer for educational programs as well as professional theatres and won praise at the
American College Dance Festival for her piece, Breathe. Recently,
she spent four years studying dance in New York City with professional
dancers such as Barbara Duffy of the Barbara Duffy Tap Ensemble, Lynn
Schwab, Joyce King and
Patricia Wilcox.
While she was in New York, Gina started her own dance program called,
Mayer Arts
and was the resident choreographer for the Pied Piper Children's Theatre
and the Delphi Theatre of New York. Gina is also a singer and actor and has performed in many
musicals and operas in various parts of the US and Europe. Her favorite
musical theatre roles she has performed include Genevieve in The
Baker’s Wife, the witch in Into the Woods, Sister Leo in
Nunsense, and Audrey in Little Shop of Horrors. Gina’s
operatic roles include Cherubino in The Marriage of Figaro, Hansel
in Hansel and Gretel, and Prince Orlofsky in Die Fledermaus.
Theatres she has had the privilege of working with consist of the Guthrie
Theatre, the Chanhassen Dinner Theatre, the Lyric Opera of New York, and the Delphi Theatre of New
York. As a director and
choreographer Gina has worked on productions such as Grease,
Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Pippin, How to
Eat Like a Child, You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown, and
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory among others. Currently, Gina resides in Minneapolis,
MN where she continues to reach aspiring performers through
Mayer Arts. |
